I read an article on listening posted in the RE/MAX sold sign blog and it made me stop and think. We Realtors tend to talk too much. We talk and talk to let our clients know how much we know about the business, about the product, about financing, about the market, about everything. Sometimes we fail to listen and ask questions.

We can better serve if we listen to our clients, ask clarifying questions, not interrupting with our own ideas, or not forming a verbal response while someone else is speaking. We need to listen and not jump to conclusions, reflect before answering and never assume we know what they want more than they do.

As Judge Judy says, “God gave you one mouth and two ears for a reason.” That’s pretty good advice I think.
